I own TheServerPharm servers, and I would like to bring shrunkland back!  I noticed that shrunkland is not on the master list.  I have my own dedicated server that I use only to host tron game servers.  So, it would be very easy for me to host shrunkland!  Would someone be willing to share the server settings.  If you would like to me host it, I would gladly let the former admins administrate it, with the servername of your choice.  I  just would like to restore this server for the community.

Swampy hosted Shrunkland until a few years ago when he shutdown his server and gave it to Dr Joe Tron.
It's gone back and forth a few times with each hosting it when the other wasn't.
I don't have the settings and I believe it's completely up to Swampy and Dr Joe Tron what the future is for the server.

I enjoyed playing on Shrunkland especially with the long time regulars.

Yeah, i noticed that browsing through the forums here.  I am hoping that one of them will eventually see this post and offer up the settings.  And just to repeat myself, i would gladly let them, or others who administered shrunkland before to continue to administer it, I just want to bring it back.

Well, if your goal is to bring back some of my favorite servers then you should also bring back g-land and the cage... and that one server that had ramps and flying cycles.

I would gladly let the former admins administrate it

Definitely Scope.

You could just make your own settings inspired by Shrunkland, clone servers always feel weird (in a bad, but not dirty way) when they are hosted in different places.  You can call it Geneland.

I'd be happy to get you the settings.  I don't have them handy at the moment so I'll need to fire up the ol' Shrunkland server and pull them off and get them to you.  Give me about a week though, I'm going out of town.   Cool

Shrunkland is back!  I hope you all enjoy the server!  It is my understanding that some of you may have been admins or mods in the past.  Please let me know if you would like to help moderate this server!  It is now setup to use armathentication, which i can easily explain to you.

I just played it, and it's really nice. A good alternative to the Mudpuddle for me. And I ping amazingly low from 100 (!) to 130 (connecting from Europe).   Afro

Nice work, compguygene!  I played it today for a while, fun.  I did time out twice, and then there was two Shrunks listed in the master server list.  Besides that, everything was good, nice pings.

I think I have developed tronic adhd from playing mud puddle and sumo too much.  Shrunkland is kinda long and boring.  It got better when there was 5 people in there.

I am glad to hear that people are enjoying the server.  One nice thing about the NY location of that server is that it is pretty central and an ok ping for most people in Europe and the U.S.

What kind of server specs does it take to run a tron server?

the dedicated server program requires very little for hardware.
On a dual core 2Ghz, CPU utilization is 2-10%.
It runs as a text application, no real graphics required.

I figured as much about the text.  Most dedicated servers I've run in my day are console-only.

What sort of bandwidth requirements are we talking?

It all depends on how many people you set the server for and how big of a pipeline you have.  IF I remember correctly, you should figure about 8kb per player up and down.
