I believe it's incredibly selfish and disrespectful of the other players to leave a chatbot on any server for longer than a round.

I guess I am a selfish and disrespectful kind of guy.

Quote
A modified armagetron client, the way you describe it, is really no different than a chatbot.

Perhaps I wasn't clear... it is a chatbot. One that happens to play better and record certain data for later testing.

Quote
Furthermore, it could be debated that any modification to the source code of the client is cheating.

Many things can be debated, that doesn't mean there is any point in doing so.

Quote
Obsi ----- It appears that you have your own server running, why wouldn't you use that server to "gather data"Huh?

I have multiple servers running and I do use them to gather data. I started out in the puddle though, because the bot isn't very good, and I needed to find a server filled with players that played at or near it's "freshly birthed" level.

Quote
Why is it so difficult to consider other players when contemplating something like this.

Consider what about them exactly? If they had not witnessed the bot's progression, from yellow triangle to no yellow triangle, they would have never known it was a bot. It didn't sit in the server spewing racial epithets like Cracker, didn't dig on walls like dev or loquat, didn't rape your mother...  not sure what other considerations need to be given.

Quote
Do you really believe most people will like playing with a modified client/ chatbot?

Most people believe in an invisible man in the sky watching over their every move, entranced in their little boring lives. Most people believe in things like ghosts, aliens, psychics, stigmata, etc.

I don't find worrying about what most people think a very life enriching venture.

Wow, are you really that wrapped up in yourself to the extent that you can't understand how your actions aren't acceptable?

That's merely a matter of opinion. Are you really that wrapped up in yourself that you can't understand people see things from different viewpoints?

Several times when I went to the server people were complaining about your modified client and stated they didn't like it.

You seem to think you have a right to go on any server and do as you wish.
This is not the case at all.

We provide this server for light hearted fun for whoever wants to play there.
Please don't use a modified client again on this server.

i believe what it boils down to... is that it's cash's server. what he says goes. not more, not less. if you wish to argue your points further then please do so. but it's my understanding that they're not going to be given their day in court.

I don't think about it that way Troneater, it's a Swampland Community Server.
Although, I am closer to the power button than most people.  Wink

Multi-binding is allowed within the settings menu without modifying the original code and recompiling.
IMO, if it's changeable from configuration or the settings within the program, no problem.
There's a big difference between that and modifying the code which opens all kinds of doors to cheating.
